CPSC announced Crib Recall List 2009.

Crib Recall List 2009

The CPSC announced today that further than 2.1 million drop-side cribs through Stork Craft Manufacturing are being recalled, the biggest crib recall list in United States history.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission states the recall involves 1.2 million cribs in the U.S and approximately 1 million in Canada, where Stork Craft is found.

Among those cribs recalled consist of:

  • Stork Craft drop-side cribs and Stork Craft drop-side cribs by the Fisher-Price badge
  • Cribs through plastic trigger and one hand system drop side hardware
  • Stork Craft cribs with built-up and distribution dates between January 1993 and October 2009
  • Stork Craft cribs with the Fisher-Price logo that have built-up dates between October 1997 and December 2004

Retailers in the United States and Canada selling the cribs consist of J.C. Penney, BJ’s Wholesale Club, USA Baby, and Wal-Mart Inc. stores and online at Walmart.com, Babiesrus.com, Amazon.com, and Target.com and others from January 1993 during October 2009. The cribs charge between $100 and $400.

The organization is attentive of four deaths of young children who asphyxiated in the cribs, which have a side that moves up and down to permit parents to lift children from the cribs without difficulty.

The Stork Craft cribs have had troubles with their hardware, which can split, or with congregation mistakes by the crib vendor.

Security experts caution that cribs over and over again stay in homes for generations. If you have one of the cribs in your basement that’s been reminded in recent years, either fix it or get rid of it.
