In expressions of national political opinions, there are three races to look at as election returns come in from around the country this evening, as the center is on races for Governor in Virginia and New Jersey, also a special election for a US House seat in New York City.
The contest in Virginia seems to have tilted in support of the GOP, as Bob McDonnell has the edging over Democrat Creigh Deeds.
Creigh Deeds had the hard luck of being thrown under the bus by the Obama White House in October, which used the front page of the Washington Post to throw out unidentified quotes about how bad a race Deeds had run and further.
If Democrats lose this contest, party officials will talk about how they had a “weak” contestant in Virginia, not that the GOP won as of the message or a criticism against President Barack Obama.
Now in New Jersey, Democrats are trying to seize on as Governor John Corzine has been back and forth in the polls in opposition to Republican Chris Christie, who has had to fight stories about ethical lapses in current weeks.
The wild card in New Jersey is a self-determining, Chris Daggett who has been in dual digits in the elections, and has still won the support of several New Jersey newspapers.
Whereas Daggett votes come from either out of Christie or Corzine and it will decide where this election goes. Daggett has worked for together parties in the state.
Corzine had surged to the lead last week, but some numbers were moving towards Christie on Monday.
The final battle to watch nationally will be an exceptional U.S House election in New York State that grabbed a lot of heading over the weekend.
This seat was seized by Rep. John McHugh, who is currently the Secretary of the Army.
The Democrat in the contest is Bill Owens, who was considering by some to be too conventional.
The Republican in the contest, state representative Dierdre Scozzafava, was considered to be too laissez-faire.
That unlocks the door for Doug Hoffman, who is operation on the Conservative Party line. He won the backing of Sarah Palin and other GOP heavyweight’s race, and that eventually forced Scozzafava out of the contest over the weekend.
But in shocker news, she threw her sustain to Owens, Democrat. And although she’s out of the race, her name will still be on the ballot box, which could consume votes away from Hoffman.
If the Democrats triumph this seat, they will be chuckle vociferously. Similar goes for the GOP in New Jersey seat.
If all three seats go against the Democrats, it should make for a remarkable political turn session on Wednesday morning, now as it will be if Democrats win two of three.
It certainly will be an exciting night. Three defeats for Democrats may well have a downbeat impact on their health reform initiative. We never know.
On November 3rd, voters will decide on 26 ballot actions, divided amongst 6 states: Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Washington.
