Argentina news reports from Buenos Aires, earthquake measuring a 6.3 in Richter scale of magnitude terremoto has shaken the ocean floor between South America and Antarctica, too deep and far from land to cause any serious damage, early reports suggests.
The United States Geological Survey says the earthquake hit at 1200 GMT Sunday in Drake Passage, about 354 km southeast of Ushuaia in Argentina, at a depth level of 21 km.
Fire-fighter chief Carlos Arimendi says they didn’t feel it Argentina’s southernmost city; whereas, Chilean seismologists said,” it had no impact in Puerto Williams,” a Chilean outpost across the Beagle Channel, Ushuaia.
Seas were still at South America’s southern tip, and no tsunami warnings were issued.
