Middletown CT Police are reporting a gas explosion and fire at a Kleen Energy power plant in Middletown in Connecticut; 2 people died and only 70 people were injured on Sunday in the power plant explosion.
Police Sergeant Chuck Jacobucci said, “More than 100 emergency service divisions, including police, fire and emergency management, were responding”.
Middlesex Hospital in Middletown about 24 kilometres from Hartford in Connecticut; said it was receiving patients from the explosion, which taken place about 11:30 am at the Kleen Power Plant.
The Kleen plant was under creation and had not opened, Middletown Officer Kevin White told CNN news; it was set to go online later on this year, he further added and was in a “testing phase”.
People up to 32 kilometres away reported hearing or feeling the blast; “It felt like the house was shaking”, one of the residents who lives about 16km away in Durham.
Nearby resident Lynn Townsend said, “It really shook the house”, she further added, “Everybody was scared; the kids started to cry,” updated video from the explosion place tells the whole story.

While the accident in Middletown is tragic. I would like to point out the picture of the barge floating on the CT river is from aprox. 2000 – 2003. I believe the picture with the dome is a picture of the former Connecticut Yankee facility which has been leveled and decommissioned a few years ago..
