On Wednesday 24 February 2010, a trainer named as Dawn Brancheau at SeaWorld was attacked and killed by a whale that was part of the show at Shamu Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
SeaWorld authorities said,” Brancheau 40-year-old female trainer slipped and fell into the tank and was then attacked by a whale”.
On the other hand, a park visitor and eyewitness to the event, Victoria Biniak said”the trainer had just completed telling the audience what they were about to see during the show, when the whale named ‘Tilikum’ jumped up from the water and grabbed the training, shaking her violently”.
Sources say that the accident happened around afternoon time, and near the end of the SeaWorld show.
Another eyewitness Eldon Skaggs said, “Dawn Brancheau was on a platform with Tilikum and was massaging it; when suddenly Tilikum pulled Dawn Brancheau under and started swimming around with her”.
After that an alarm was ringing and all SeaWorld staff rushed the viewers out of the stadium and workers matted around with nets; SeaWorld trainer killed video available on CNN also given below.
