At the Ceremony of BET Honors 2010, American gospel singer Kim Burrell performed “I Believe In You and Me” in tribute to honouree Whitney Houston.
The BET Honors 2010 was the 3rd annual awards ceremonial; additional BET 2010 honourees included Entrepreneur Honouree Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Media Recipient Queen Latifah, and Public Service Honouree Keith L. Black (M.D) and Education Honouree Dr. Ruth Simmons.
However, Burrell battled twice pneumonia for eight years as a child; she took part in her first solo exhibition in the church choir at the age of only 11 years with Andrae Crouch song Hallelujah praise.
Burrell’s first independent music album is “Try Me Again,” was released on the Texas based boutique label Pearl Records in 1995 and this Album was the limited distribution kept the album from countrywide recognition, but it did make a strong reputation that led to her being signed to Tommy Boy Gospel, and the now classic Everlasting Life produced by Asaph Alexander Ward.
