Pro Golfer Tiger Woods talked on 19 February 2010 press conference, and mere moments after the golfing great finished his very public apology, the public was already talking back to his speech transcript.
Woods’ 13 and 1/2 minute press conference for cheating on his wife Elin Nordegren and unsatisfactory legions of fans was aired live Friday on dozens of televise networks, cable news outlets and online live streams, permits millions to tune in.
In a public speaking from his own heart, Woods offered an apology for his statement “irresponsible behaviour,” and said he was deeply sorry for “bringing shame on myself and my family”.
Today’s press conference was Woods first public statement in the three months since his private and professional living blew up Thanksgiving weekend 2009; today’s personal statement by Woods, was carried live by every major news channel in the country.
Response to Woods speech came fast, and from several different camps. ABC’s George Stephanopoulos called the talking “one of the most remarkable public apologies ever by a public figure”.
“What I saw was arrogance — it was basically an infomercial”, said Rick Cerrone a former New York Yankees public relations director on CNN; catch the Tiger Woods apology video given below.
