NASA says Chile earthquake altered earth axis and shortened the length of day!

NASA announced Monday, Saturday’s Chile earthquake prompted a small tsunami in Hawaii and other region, also altered the earth off its axis.

It’s shocking facts for everyone but true that the 8.8 Richter scale earthquakes moved the earth off its axis by almost 3 inches and our time to be shortened by about 1.26 microseconds; according to new computer model computations by geophysicist Richard Gross of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.

This is an unbelievable length in view of the size of our planet; it’s kind of frightening to think what a series of these types of earthquakes would do to change the scene of our planet.

For evaluation the same model approximate that the magnitude 9 Richter scale Sumatra earthquake in December 2004 shortened the duration of a day by 6.8 millionths of a sec.

The earthquake in Chile, death toll over 723 people and has wreaked chaos on the Latin American country. There are many reports of looting and general chaos and violent behaviour, as the effects of the earthquake have evacuated over a million people.

The US and other countries have offered their support to Chile; in this natural disaster more than half a million homes were damaged.
