The US President Barack Obama immigration speech (video given below) is partly obsessed by politics, specially the desire to demonstrate to a key Democratic voting community that he has not beyond its chief concern. Obama said in his 1st main immigration speech, “Reform that brings accountability to our immigration system cannot pass without Republican votes. That is the political and mathematical reality”.
The President of US Obama said his management has already taken record-setting actions to strengthen the border and he urged Congress to commend “a pathway to legal status” for the 11 million or so unlawful immigrants who are already in the US.
The Texas Republican said that whereas he was a supporter of reform, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was very improbable to bring up an immigration bill this year, representation the president’s points Thursday all but doubtful.
“The President can make progress on this issue but it will take more than a speech; if he would take amnesty off the table and make a real commitment to border and interior security, he will find strong bipartisan support”, the top Senate Republican said.

The president said that “These laws also have the potential of violating the rights of innocent American citizens and legal residents, making them subject to possible stops or questioning because of what they look like or how they sound”.
The president said he has already taken foremost steps to better protect the border, declaring twice that “we have more boots on the ground near the southwest border than at any time in our history”.
