The former NBA player Lorenzen Wright was found dead in Memphis on July 28. The player’s uncle Curtis Wright told an international news agency that the police had already informed to the player’s father, Herb Wright on Wednesday, Jul 28 afternoon that Lorenzen had died.
The 34 years old has played 13 seasons in the NBA and last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2008-09 seasons. Wright was believed to fly out of town on July 18, although was never heard back as the family filed a missing report on the July 22.
The champ Wright averaged 8 points and 6 assists in his career and played with teams like the Los Angeles Clippers; Memphis Grizzlies; Cleveland Cavaliers; Atlanta Hawks; and the Sacramento Kings. Penny Hardaway, who played in Memphis about 2 years before Wright did, was shocked and sad about the breaking news.
Hardaway said that “I cried; the emotions hit me immediately; it’s just sad because we lost a good person and a brother”. “He was a good person; He did not deserve to die this way; God is not pleased with this”, Wendy Wilson said, who was Wright’s personal assistant.
A cousin of Lorenzen, Camella Logan said that “Lorenzen’s family has come together to mourn his loss and honor his legacy; We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and condolences as they are comforting at this very difficult time; Additionally, we ask that you please respect our privacy as we try to cope with his sudden loss”.
